Mrs. Jewell "Judy" Shannon Johnson, age 95, formerly of Middleton, TN, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 in Selma, Alabama at her daughter's home.
She was born March 22, 1922 in Hurricane Mills, TN, daughter of the late William Bryan Shannon and Vera Evonne Wright Shannon and graduated high school from Jefferson Parrish High in New Orleans, LA. She married William W. "Bill" Johnson on March 8, 1952 in Humboldt, becoming a homemaker and mother, and faithfully served as a helpmeet for him while he preached the gospel for over 50 years. They had lived in various places during their lives, moving to the Middleton area in 2008 and living in Selma, Alabama since 2015. She was a member of Middleton Church of Christ, and taught Bible classes at various churches until she was 85 years old. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles but was best known for her love of her family, her church family and especially, her love for God.
In addition to her husband, she leaves as survivors two daughters, Denise Johnson McLemore (Tom) of Selma, AL and Dianne Johnson Morgan (Scott) of Noblesville, IN; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle Marie Hobbs in 2015; 2 sisters, Virginia Shannon and Jo Rushing; and two brothers, Clint and J. D. Shannon. Memorials in her name may be made to the Middleton Church of Christ.
