Jewell Rowlett Poag Jewell Rowlett Poag was born January 8, 1921 in the daughter of the late Cornelius Rowlett and Ruth Marie Pearson Rowlett. Mrs. Poag died on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilition Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 95 Years, 4 Months, 30 Days. She was married to Charles Hughes PoagonApril 20,1939and he preceded her in death March 3, 2000. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Mississippi County, AR and after relocating to Waynesboro taught in Wayne County Elementary School. She was a member of Waynesboro Church of Christ. Mrs. Poag was always avtive in her community.

She is survived by a daughter, Melba Poag Duncan of Waynesboro, TN, a sister, Christine Rothe of Arkansas, three grandchildren, Caprice Breitner, Paul Scott Poag, and Tina Lynn McMechen, eight great grandchildren, Codi Wilson, Lillie Rose Moore, Mason Poag, Taylor Poag, Clare Poag, Vivian McMechen, Harrison Dale McMechen, and Rachel McMechen. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Poag was preceded in death by a son, Dale Edmund Poag.

Services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral DirectorsChapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Bobby Pinckley officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland United Methodist Church Cemetery near Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00-9:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
