Memphis TN: James Manford Melton, Sr. passed away February 1, 2011 at Belmont Village in Memphis, TN.
He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Leonard and Mammie Rachel Colbert Melton. He attended schools in Chester County and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After service he drove a Greyhound Bus for a few years and later worked in the used car business. He worked for Murdock Acceptance Finance Corp for 25 years and later worked in Real Estate at the Dan Stewart Company, Pyramid Company and Crye-Leike Realtors. He was married to Jean Baker on Dec.9, 1950 in MS. He was a Mason, coin and Antique collector.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Ruth Sparks of Kansas City, MO and Andrea Jeanette Wilkinson of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Geoffrey Scott Melton of Whitehouse, TN and James Manford Melton, Jr. of Bartlett, TN; grandchildren, James Daniel Melton, Matthew Scott Melton, Lindsey Leigh Melton, Geoffrey Scott Melton, Jr., Amanda Jean Melton, Victoria Jean Wilkinson and Adam Wilkinson; 6 great-grandchildren and a brother, L. W. Melton, Jr. of Henderson, TN.
