Jimmy Ray Alexander was born on October 21, 1939 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late Brown Homer and Bessie M. Alexander.
On May 24, 1963, he was united in marriage to Donnie C. Stephens, who preceded him in death on March 18, 2014.
Jimmy honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from December 08, 1959 to May 09, 1963. After his years in the military, he worked as a Police Officer for eight years. In 1982, Jimmy started working as a 911 dispatcher until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Cornerstone Baptist Church. Jimmy enjoyed fellowship with his friends and family, reading his bible, listening to Southern Gospel Music, and a good meal. He was a generous person and loved helping people in the community in many ways.
Jimmy Ray Alexander departed this life on August 05, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 84 years, 9 months, and 15 days.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Alexander of Easley, South Carolina; brother, Elton Alexander of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters, Mary Thacker and husband Ernest of Savannah, Tennessee and Dorothy Jerrolds Welty and husband Dan of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jordan Samantha Gross, Emmanuelle Savannah Gross both of Piedmont, South Carolina; and special friend, Helen Qualls of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Alexander, Huey Alexander, and Bobby Alexander; and sister, Diane Alexander.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Cornerstone Baptist Church building fund or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
