JIMMY WAYNE DIGGS
Pinson, TN: Jimmy Wayne Diggs age 82 passed away July 5, 2020 at his home.
He was born July 17, 1937 and grew up in the Bemis area, the son of the late Julius Lawson and Opal Hampton Diggs. He also attended school in Bemis. He married Bertie McCollum on December 30, 1956. They made their home in Bemis. He was a maintenance mechanic all of his adult life, working for Adams Motors, Jackson furniture, and then International Paper in Jackson, retiring in 1991 after 20 years. He also enjoyed watching wrestling on T.V. and going to car races.
Mr. Diggs is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Cooper of Pinson; his sister, Ann Helton of Reagan, and he is also survived 2 grandchildren; Darion Barber (Paige) and Candy Ivie (Titius) and 6 great grandchildren; Javen McLemore, Abie McLemore, Titian Ivie, Tyme Ivie, Jaxon Richardson and Blaire Barber and a great-great grandchild, Jovonii McLemore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie M. Diggs (2017); a son, Skippy Diggs (2012); a brother, Carl Wesley Diggs; a sister, Beula Mae Tomlin and a great grandaughter, Colbie Barber.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Ken Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens at 12:00 PM Wednesday.
The family will receive friends at East Main Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday.
