James Loyd "Jimmy" Duncan was born September 28,1959 to Zueline Porter Duncan Brooks & the late Buel Loyd Duncan of Pocahontas. He peacefully passed on to be with his Lord & Savior on December 17, 2025.
Jimmy lived his entire life in Pocahontas and was a 1977 graduate of Middleton high school. As a teenager he threw newspapers around Pocahontas & Essary Springs. After high school he went to work at the factory formerly known as World Color in Corinth, MS where he was employed 32 years until their closing. He later retired from Glass Steel in Moscow, TN. He made and stayed in contact with so many friends from school, work and church over the years.
Jimmy was an active member at Pocahontas First Baptist church where he gave his life to Jesus at age 12. One of his favorite things to do was go to church, to hear the word and see all the children he loved so much. Even though he never fathered any children of his own he was the BEST Uncle Jim and had a hand in raising many others. For many years he had an October hayride for the kids(and adults) in the community. He also enjoyed having fish fries & cooking on his grill.
Jimmy loved driving and talking about Ford trucks and Ford, Farmall or any tractor. He also enjoyed woodworking and was best known these last few years as "The Sweet Potato Man"
Jimmy was always a man of his word and if he told you he would do something you could count on him to do it.
He is survived by his mother Zueline Brooks, sister Joanie Smith, nephew Nick Smith, niece Amanda Russell (Chuck) and great nephew Isaac Russell. Along with a host of other family & friends he loved dearly. He was proceeded in death by is father Buel Duncan, stepfather Charles Brooks, and a brother-in-law Robert Neal Smith. Memorials in his honor may be directed to Pocahontas First Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
