Jimmy Dan Gray, 58, of Memphis, TN, formerly of Adamsville, died March 27, 2017, after a longterm battle with health issues. He was born July 10, 1958, in Savannah, TN, the son of Joyce Sweat Gray Burks and the late Jim Henry Gray. He was a graduate of Adamsville High School and the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Jimmy taught Elementary School in the Shelby County School System for 20+ years. He had a great love for teaching and every student he encountered remembered his great passion for education. Jimmy's fun personality was reflected with his love for all things Mickey Mouse. He had a passion for travel and had friends all over the country. He loved his close-knit family barbecues and a magnitude of great friends.
He had many friends who shared his love of Farmville and other games. His infectious laugh and zest for life will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Jim Henry Gray; his step-father, T.W. Burks; and his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Joyce Gray Burks of Adamsville; a step-brother, Travis Burks of Michie; a step-sister, Brenda Tisdale and husband Leo of Michie; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
