Jimmy Haley

Jimmy Haley was born on February 7, 1938 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late Robert "Bob" Haley and Rosalie Luckett Robinson. On August 17, 1989, he was united in marriage to Thelma J. Demery, who preceded her husband in death on April 9, 2016.

Mr. Haley honorably served his country in the United States Army. Following his time in the service, he went on to spend a total of 66 years working at a place he always loved being, the river. He worked many different jobs and held several titles during that time, including 15 years as a Merchant Mariner, before retiring from Southern Towing Company as a Chief Engineer.

Another thing he loved was his music. Jimmy was very talented and could play all kinds of instruments; including the guitar, keyboard, and his best instrument, the harmonica. He also spent time playing music as a member of the group, "The Three Amigos."

Jimmy's greatest love was his family and friends, his dog, Angel, and "the cat." He enjoyed any time he spent with them and always made everyone feel welcome.

He departed this life on Friday, October 9, 2020 at his residence in Counce, Tennessee at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 2 days.

Jimmy is survived by his children, Gayle Frances Cotner and her husband Randy, James Aaron Haley and his wife Jackie and Michele Cotner and her husband Keir; grandchildren, Brandon Cotner and his wife Marina, Wesley Cotner and his wife Nicole, Casey Cotner and his wife Christina, Austin Cotner and his wife Parker, Sterling Haley, and Chris Haley; great grandchildren, Chandler Mercer, Jaden Cotner, Maddie Cotner, Presley Cotner, Bane Cotner, Finn Cotner, Everley Cotner, Landon Cotner, and Camdon Bonee; sister, Alice Faye Haley Harrell; special brother whom was dear to his heart,Joseph Pannell and his wife Claire; step children, Nancy Gifford and her husband Gordon, Phil Morris and his wife Sheila, Rick Morris, Lonnie Morris and his wife Sharon, Linda Sealy and her husband Rick, and Ronnie Morris and his wife Michelle and all their children and grandchildren; step grandchildren, Apryl Ruiz, Kathleen Gault, and Amanda Dudley; step great grandchildren, Kaii Figurski, Bryce Williams, Brandon Gault, Trinity Benidict, Logan Benidict, and Jersee Ruiz; and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his step father, Clyde Robinson, two brothers, Robert (Sonny) Haley and Agustus (Gussy) Haley, and two sisters, Mary (Tee) Haley McMahon, and Barbara Jean (Bobbie) Haley Pannell.
