Jimmy Neal Young was born December 16, 1935 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late J. C. and Inez Nash Young.
He was united in marriage to Carolyn Moore on April 21, 1956.
Jimmy worked in quality control for Sonoco in Chester County and retired from the Tennessee National Guard as a Staff Sergeant following 24 years of service and 3 years of active duty in the United States Army. He was an avid deer hunter, and also enjoyed traveling to Colorado each year to hunt elk and mule deer. Raising and selling sweet corn from his truck patch helped fund his hunting trips. Jimmy was a member of Purdy Masonic Lodge 132 for over 50 years, having served as a Past Master as well as being a Past Patron of the Bethel Springs Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Bethel Springs Presbyterian Church.
Jimmy departed this life on March 9, 2018 at his home in Bethel Springs, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 3 Months, 3 Days. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn (Moore) Young of Bethel Springs, TN; a son, Ricky Young and wife Sandy of Bethel Springs, TN; two grandchildren, Josh Young and wife Debora of Bethel Springs, TN and Amelia (Young) Sanders and husband Timmy of Ramer, TN; a brother, Tommy Young and wife Annice of Pickwick Dam, TN; four sisters: Dorothy Amerson and husband Kenneth of Finger, TN, Joann Blanton and husband Thomas of Adamsville, TN, Betty Smith and husband Ricky of Savannah, TN, and Marilyn Brock and husband Joe of Selmer, TN; friend and hunting partner James Trangmar of Selmer, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Moore Young, on October 28, 2012; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Derryberry Young; and two sisters, Mary Lou Young and Ruby Robbins.
