JINNEY MARIE WILKERSON THRASHER
was born in Savannah, Tennessee on March 13, 1929, the daughter of the late William Robert and Jennie Caroline Wilkerson.
On June 1, 1961 she was united in marriage to J. C. Thrasher, who survives.
Mrs. Thrasher retired after working 27 years for Brown Shoe Company where she was a cementer in the glue line. She also worked on the assembly line for Parris Manufacturing and as a custodian for Heilig- Meyers Furniture Store and Savannah Motel.
Jinney, as she was known to her family and friends, loved taking care of her family, especially her son, Jack, and her husband J.C., as well as her sisters and brothers and her extended family of nieces and nephews. Each year she planted a vegetable garden then canned the produce, eventually using all of it to prepare meals for other family members, many of whom lived just down the street. Her homemaking skills included sewing and she made numerous aprons, bonnets, quilts, and curtains. Christmas was Jinney's favorite time of year; she loved shopping for the gifts she would give her family.
Mrs. Thrasher departed this life on June 13, 2016 at the age of 87 years and 3 months. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, J. C. Thrasher of Savannah, Tennessee, as well as numberous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Jack Ray Thrasher, two brothers, William (Bill) Floyd Wilkerson and John Robert (Rob) Wilkerson and four sisters, Rhoda Brewington, Martha Jane Wilkerson, Rose Ada Harrison and Ester Lee Wilkerson.
