Jo Ann Brown

Mrs. Brown died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

She was born in Memphis to the late Earnest Franklin Van Blake and Lou Britt Van Blake. She was a graduate of Humes High School, Class of 1953, where she was a classmate of Elvis Presley. She married Terry N. Brown in 1953, moved to Bolivar in 1964 and was a member of the Bolivar First Baptist Church. While in Memphis, she worked for GMAC and in Bolivar was co-owner of the Purple Daisy dress shop for 23 years.

She leaves her husband, Terry N. Brown of Bolivar; two daughters, Amy Brown Howell of Jackson and Holly Brown of Memphis; her mother, Lou Cunningham of Bolivar; a half-sister, Carol Van Blake Scruggs of Moscow, TN; and a grandson, Taylor Howell of Jackson. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Van Blake of Mobile, AL.
