Jo Ann Pope

Henderson, TN: Jo Ann Pope age 77 passed away Saturday morning at the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Madison County and reared in Chester County, daughter of the late Tillman Hugo and Jessie Leo Cox Thomas. She went to school in Chester County and while in high school she was very active in basketball and in the Future Farmers of America. She graduated from CCHS in 1956. She married Lonnie Pope of Jackson in 1956. They made their home all over the United States during Lonnie’s 26 years of military service in the U.S. Air Force. Jo Ann was a waitress in many restaurants in many states as they moved around, lastly working at Madison’s in Jackson. After Lonnie retired from the Air Force they made their home in Chester County. She loved cooking, especially pecan pies and strawberry jelly. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband Lonnie Pope of Henderson, two sons; Daniel Pope and wife Dianna of Knoxville, TN and John Pope and wife Lisa of McKinney, TX; a daughter, Kay Pope of Wheatland, WY; three sisters, Bobbie Sharp, Dot Scott, and Tomi Harold and husband Michael. Also four grandchildren; Morgan, Garrett, Ryan and Connor Pope.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 03 at 2:00 pm at the Trinity United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Dr. Roger Penn will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon on Saturday until funeral time of 2:00 at the church.
