Jo Anne Brown Peppers was born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, the beloved daughter of the late James and Margaret Wright Stanley.
Throughout her life, Jo Anne was known for her strong work ethic and caring spirit. She worked at ITT in Selmer, Tennessee, Kimberly-Clark in Corinth, Mississippi, and later at a local florist. She was also a licensed cosmetologist, taking pride in serving others through her many talents.
Jo Anne found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a remarkable gift for gardening, cultivating a beautiful yard filled with colorful flowers and tending a thriving vegetable garden each year. She especially loved watching the hummingbirds that gathered at the feeders she faithfully kept filled. Some of her favorite moments were spent with a cup of coffee in hand, working crossword puzzles, or enjoying the companionship of her beloved fur baby, Rosey.
Above all, Jo Anne was a devoted and loving mother. She was outgoing, fiercely independent, and always appreciated for her warm personality and caring heart. Her family will remember her for the love she shared, the beauty she created in her gardens, and the many cherished memories they were blessed to make together.
Mrs. Peppers departed this life on June 28, 2026, in Como, Mississippi, at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 3 days.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Loretta Doyle of Selmer, Tennessee; two sons, Ricky Brown and his partner, Lisa Jones, of Como, Mississippi, and Johnny Brown and his wife, Lesley, of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; her sister, Roberta Henderson of Discovery Bay, California; five grandchildren, Dustin Green, Trista Anderson, Chad Russell, Drew Brown, and Gage Brown; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jo Anne was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Claude Brown; her second husband, William "Bill" Peppers; and two grandsons, Nick Brown and Shane Michael.
Though she will be deeply missed, Jo Anne's legacy of love, kindness, resilience, and the beauty she cultivated in both her gardens and the lives of those around her will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
