Joan Stanfield was born in Savannah, Tennessee on October 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Burnace and Pluma Turner Blackwelder.
On August 31, 1962, she was united in marriage to Leon Stanfield, who preceded his wife in death on July 27, 2017.
Joan worked as a clerk for the Tennessee Department of Human Services. In her spare time, she loved to play dominoes, ride in her golf cart, traveling with her husband, sister, and brother-in-law, and spending time with Logan and Lauren, whom she thought of as her grandkids, they called her "Aint Joan". Joan loved her husband, who lovingly called her "Dixie Ann". She loved living in the Cerro Gordo community, where she could sit on her front porch and see all the places she had lived, other than the time she spent in Memphis while she attended college. Joan was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.
She departed this life on Thursday, October 2, 2025, in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 12 days.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Lori Stanfield and her wife, Tara Smith of Vale, Oregon; sister, Carol Cagle and her husband Terry of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Becky Shutt and her husband James and Peggy Stricklin, all of Savannah, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Blackwelder Tyler and brother, Dennis Blackwelder.
