She was united in marriage to Billy Ray Hughes on August 2, 1947. Mr. Hughes preceded her in death on December 14, 2015. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Michie, Tennessee. She retired after 30 plus years from the Michie Elementary School where she worked in the Cafeteria.
JoAnn enjoyed being outside, tending to her beautiful flowers, observing the wonders of bird watching, and engaging in the delightful activity of shopping. Amongst her many interests, she held a special place in her heart for connecting with loved ones, both friends and family. Her most treasured moments were those shared with her beloved daughter Kim.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Hughes Capooth of Guys, TN.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by four sisters: Willie Mae Thomas, Mildred Wigginton, Audrey Dowty, Alene Pettigrew; four brothers: Glen Abernathy Chambers, J. R. Chambers, Warren G. Chambers, William Charles "Bear" Chambers.
