JoAnn (Jody) Weatherspoon
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on August 13, 1938 the daughter of the late George and Mamie Bailey Burns.
On July 27, 1957 she was united in marriage to Floyd Weatherspoon, Sr., who preceded her in death on March 28, 2007.
Mrs. Weatherspoon had lived in Marietta, Georgia from 1973 - 1977 and moved back to Hardin County in 1977 until the present. She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of children, cooking, and baking. She was a member of the Love Tabernacle Church of God in Christ.
Mrs. Weatherspoon departed this life on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the age of 71 years, 5 months, 22 days.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Dorothy Alexander, Sherian Hartnest, Gayle Weatherspoon, and Catina Weatherspoon all of Savannah, Tennessee, Elizabeth McCoy of Tupelo, Mississippi; 4 sons, James Burns and Stevie Weatherspoon both of Savannah, Tennessee, Victor Weatherspoon of Dallas, Texas, and Galvin Weatherspoon of Memphis, Tennessee; 2 sisters, Mary Weatherspoon of Savannah, Tennessee and Trudy Pitts of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 2 brothers, Freddie Burns of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Edward Burns of Savannah, Tennessee; a host of grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Hollinsworth; a brother, William Bailey; 3 grandchildren, Antonia (Paco) Hartnest, Latonia Weatherspoon, and Donny Hartnest.
