Joe Robert Phillips was born on August 9, 1946 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late James Benjamin and Bettye Elizabeth Steward Phillips.
Mr. Phillips lived his entire life in Hardin County and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee and a member of the Tri-State Carpenters Union. He served his country in the United States Army and afterwards became a self-employed construction worker who traveled to different places for work. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking; making custom furniture pieces such as bookcases, desks, vanity cabinets and all types of custom cabinetry.
Mr. Phillips departed this life on June 23, 2014, at the Park Rest Nursing Home in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 14 days.
He is survived by two sons, Kevin McKinley Phillips of Savannah, Tennessee and Joseph Daniel Phillips of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Weston Daniel Phillips, Kellen Riley Phillips, Austin Kade Phillips and Grace Ann Phillips; a brother, Jimmy Wayne Phillips of Savannah, Tennessee; an aunt, Ann Blackwelder of Rockford, Illinois and several cousins.
