A. Joe Prentis of Counce, Tennessee was born in East Tennessee on January 9, 1939, the son of the late Fred and Sally Prentis.
On April 6, 1960, he was united in marriage to Jerrie Parnell, who survives.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Joe is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Prentis of Counce, Tennessee.
Joe worked for the FBI in Washington for a year before starting to work for Packaging Corporation of America. He retired after 40 years. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church of Counce, where he served in various jobs in his earlier years. He was the Men's Sunday School teacher for 20 years. Joe's hobbies were running, riding bicycle, reading, on the computer with his friends and writing. He wrote several books.
Joe departed this life on April 7, 2020 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 29 days.
He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly Walkins and Bobby of Florence, Alabama and Catherine Prentis and Daryll of Nashville, Tennessee and a brother, Luther Freddy Prentis and Erma of Arkansas.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, James Prentis and a half-sister.
