Joe Dixon Ray

May 28, 1931 — June 29, 2015

Joe Dixon Ray of Mt. Juliet, TN, was born May 28, 1931 in Wayne County, TN, the son of the late Arthur Franklin and Myrtle Eloise Bell Ray. He was united in marriage to Patsy Ruth Johnson on September 9, 1950.

Mr. Ray was an owner/operator of a trucking business and served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War.

He departed this life on Monday, June 29, 2015 at Alive Hospital at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 84 Years, 1 Month, 1 Day.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Ruth Johnson Ray of Mount Juliet, TN; daughters, Vicki Ray Richard and husband, Christopher of Mount Juliet, TN and Alisa Ann Ray of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Joe Johnson Richard and Caitlin Anne Richard both of Nashville, TN and beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Cotton Ray and John H. Ray and a sister, Charlotte Marie Ray Davis.

A graveside service will be Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 3 pm at McGlamery Cemetery, Collinwood, Tennessee with Tommy Flood officiating. Burial will follow with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Shade Tree Clinic, Nashville, TN; Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center, Nashville, TN or to a charity of your choice.
