Mr. Joe F. Sheffield, age 81 of Collierville, Tennessee, joined his granddaughter Courtney Sheffield in heaven Sunday morning, December 11, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Sheffield was born Sunday, September 1, 1935 in Sunflower County, Mississippi to the late Leon O. and Grace K. Kemp Sheffield. On Saturday, January 17, 1959, he was united in marriage to Pat Sheffield, née West, who survives. He served in the United States Army and later received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Mississippi State University and his Master's degree from the University of Memphis. He taught and coached at several different schools in the West Tennessee area, including Hickory Valley School, where he was Head Master, Central High School in Savannah, Snowden Junior High in Memphis, Pickwick Southside Elementary School, where he was principal, and Grandview Heights Elementary School in Memphis, before he retired in 1991. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bolivar.
He was known for his faith and love for his family including wife, Pat Sheffield; son, Joe Sheffield, Jr. (Patty) of Collierville; grandchildren, Ashlee Sheffield, Lindsey Sheffield and Courtney Sheffield; sister, Carol Hughes of Cordova.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Courtney; and two brothers, Leon Sheffield and Neil Sheffield.
