Mr. Thornton died Thursday morning, October 20, 2011 at his home.
The husband of Mary Elizabeth Keller Thornton, who survives, he was a retired carpenter. He served in the Navy during WWII. He was born on April 12, 1926, in Decatur, Ala., the son of the late Joe Deamer and Pearlie Roper Thornton and lived most of his life in Jackson, TN before moving to Middleton. He was Baptist in belief.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on March 2, 1986, Mr. Thornton is survived by two daughters, Leta Tucker of Graham, NC and LaRa Wright and husband Kevin of Jackson; three step sons, Jerry Keller and wife Cathy, Bobby Keller and wife Rose, and Larry Keller and wife Betty, all of Middleton; two half sisters, Nita White and husband David and Mary White and husband Irwin all of Jackson; two brothers Jimmy Thornton and wife Glenda of Memphis and George Thornton and wife Libby of Huntingdon; two grandsons, Bryan Tucker and Ethan Massey; four step grandsons, John Keller, Thomas Keller, Ronald Keller, and William Keller all of Middleton, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He also leaves a special nephew, Tony Arnold and wife Martha Nell of Jackson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by his two sisters, Hazel Hammond and Josephine Arnold; a step grandson, Jimmy Keller, and a great grand-daughter, Amber Keller.
