Joel Thomas Lynn of Waynesboro, TN was born May 28, 1947 in Wayne Co, TN, the son of James Thomas Lynn, Sr. of Waynesboro, TN, who survives and the late Ruby Pearl Simmons Lynn. He was united in marriage to Rita Faye Gatlin on January 26, 1973.
Mr. Lynn was a land caretaker and departed this life on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 68 Years, 1 Month, 23 Days.
Other than his father, he is survived by his wife, Rita Lynn of Waynesboro, TN; a son, Dustin Lynn of Nashville, TN; a daughter, Mendy Thrasher and boyfriend, Rodney Staggs of Waynesboro, TN; a granddaughter, Kenzie Lee Thrasher; a brother, James T. Lynn, Jr. of Waynesboro, TN; a sister, Reba Hollis of Waynesboro, TN; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Joel Wallace and Joseph Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Copeland Cemetery, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Jamie Lynn, Dustin Lynn, Butch Nutt and James T. Lynn, Jr.
Visitation will Friday, July 24, 2015 from 4 pm to 9 pm and Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
