Obituary

John Richard Babcock, age 80, was born on July 2, 1945, in New York and passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 13, 2026, following a long battle with cancer. As a young boy, he moved with his family to St. Cloud, Florida, where he spent much of his early life.

John proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966. Following his military service, he began a lifelong career as a long-distance truck driver, a profession he dedicated himself to for many years.

In 1987, John made Selmer, Tennessee his home, where he remained a resident for the rest of his life.

He is survived by his loving children, son Joe Henry Babcock of Selmer, Tennessee, and daughter Johnnie Rebecca Hall of Eastview, Tennessee. He also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren: Chelsea Babcock of Fort Myers, Florida; Ella Babcock of Jacksonville, Florida; and Jayden French of Selmer, Tennessee.

At John’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the Carl Perkins Center or a charity of your choosing.

John will be remembered for his hard work, dedication to his family, and the life he built through years of perseverance and service.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16
