John "Fluffy" Cowing Vaughn, age 56, of Pocahontas passed from this life at his home Saturday, February 14, 2015.
John was known by family and friends as "Fluffy" and was bor on June 5, 1959 in Sumter, SC to the late Barry Cowing and Bonnie Ingle Cowing. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pocahontas.
He lived most of his life in Hardeman County. A former employee of Dover, he worked on a river boat and was a carpenter by trade. He graduated from Middleton High School in 1977, was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and all sports. He loved his family time, cooking, eating and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
In addition his mother, Bonnie Vaughn, he is survived by two brothers, Edward "Tink" Vaughn, II and Mitch and wife Casey Vaughn; a sister in law, Denise Vaughn, wife of his brother, the late Todd Vaughn, all of Pocahontas; one half brother, Pete Cowing of Cheyenne, WY; his uncle, Wendle and Aunt Martha Ingle of New Albany, MS; five nephews, Brandon, Preston, Chase, Scott and Matthew; five nieces, Brandy and husband Nick Henson of Bolivar, Kristen, Carrie, Kiley and Lelia; two great nephews, Cody and Logan and one great niece, Sophie and so many very close cousins and friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his baby brother, Todd Vaughn, his stepfather, Edward "Buddy" Vaughn; his grandparents, John Ledford and Carrie Ingle of Memphis and the Cowing family in Bangor and Hollowell, Maine. The family requests memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Foundation and the American Heart Association.
