John Leo Deaver of Iron City, TN was born March 11, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of the late Samuel and Stella Isis Barrell Deaver. On February 17, 1952 he married Mary Alice Howard Deaver, she preceded him December 11, 2002. Prior to moving to Wayne County Mr. Deaver had lived several years in Florence. He died Wednesday, July 4, 2013 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro at the age of 85 Years, 3 Months, 23 Days. Mr. Deaver, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marines, served in World War II and the Korean War. He was retired from Tennessee Valley Authority as a chemical engineer.
He is survived by two sons, John Thomas Crunk of Iuka, MS and Larry Wayne Crunk of Cypress Inn, TN; a daughter, Wanda Teresa Swift of Iron City, TN;
ten grandchildren, Boone Swift, Mary Swift, Sabrina Smith, Sammy Crunk, Stacey Borden, Tammy Crunk, Jeff Crunk, Hank Swift, Tracy Swift, and Keli Swift; 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 2 sons and 7 brothers and sisters.
At his request his remains were cremated.
