John David Foley, a devoted husband, father, and skilled craftsman, passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on December 12, 1946, in Corinth, Mississippi, to the late Benjamin and Thelma Foley, John lived a life marked by hard work, service to his country, and a deep love for his family.
John was a proud veteran, having served four years in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic. Following his military service, he dedicated approximately 40 years to his trade as a journeyman electrician. He was a long-standing member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Corinth, Mississippi, where his expertise and dedication were well respected by his peers.
John was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ and attended Montezuma Community Church with his wife, Daralene, whom he married on July 17, 2010. He found peace in the simple pleasures of life, particularly during the spring and summer months when he could be found relaxing with a cigar. In a fitting tribute to this favorite pastime, he will be buried with a special cigar he received as a gift this past Christmas. When he wasn't outside, John was likely found in front of the television, immersed in the world of Gunsmoke or any classic Western, especially those filmed in black and white.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Martha Jewell Bradford Foley, who passed away in September 2007; his son, Michael Clint Foley; his brother, Charles Foley; and a stepdaughter, Chelsea Purvis Watkins.
He is survived by his wife, Daralene Foley of Selmer, Tennessee; his daughter, Tory Dickens and husband Steven of Hendersonville, Tennessee; his son, Matthew Foley of Westmoreland, Tennessee; his stepdaughter, Desiree' Emison and husband Matthew of Jackson, Tennessee; and his stepson, William Purvis of Selmer, Tennessee. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Katie and Christian Dickens, and his step-grandson, Steven Watkins Jr., along with a host of extended family and friends.
