John Ford, Jr.

Mr. Ford, age 67, of Oakland, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at his home.
He was born in Millington, while his father, the late John Lewis Ford, Sr., was stationed at the naval base there. His mother is Mrs. Elizabeth Maxwell Ford, who survives. After his father’s service, the family moved to Memphis and settled in the Treadwell community where he graduated high school with the class of 1972. After his marriage to the former Susan Blaylock on Friday, June 1, 1973, they lived in the Berclair area of Memphis before moving to Oakland in 2007.
Mr. Ford was a retired Senior International Document Agent with Federal Express where he worked for 25 years. Also, he had been a truck driver and maintenance man. Known for his sense of humor, he enjoyed gun collecting, model airplanes and time spent with his grandchildren.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Susan Ford of Oakland; his daughter, Jennifer DeLaet (Kenny) of Bartlett; his son, John Lewis “Trey” Ford, III of Memphis; his mother, Elizabeth Ford of Memphis; his brother, Jeff Ford of Bolivar; two aunts, Mary Ford of Santa Fe, NM and Betty Eden of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren, Jacob Miller (Ellie), Caleb Miller, Kaitlyn Ford, Kaley Ford, Micah Ford and Noah Ford; and four nieces and one nephew.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Ford of Bolivar.
