John Gary Grammer was born August 1, 1948 in Nashville, TN the son of the late Eugene and Lillian Bonner Grammer. He departed this life on March 14, 2020 in Pocahontas, Tennessee at the age of 71 Years, 7 Months, 13 Days.
Mr. Grammer received his doctoral in psychology from the Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. He had worked mostly in the field of metal health and retardation. His last full time employment was with Whiteville Correctional Facility before retiring. He was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Bolivar, TN.
John was an avid hunter. He had a passion for collecting guns and knives. He was a people person and enjoyed travel and adventure. Most of all, John loved spending time with his grandsons and wife Mary.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Head Grammer of Pocahontas, TN; two step grandchildsons, William Forbes of Chattanooga, TN, Blake Forbes and wife Crystal of Pocahontas, TN; a brother, Phil Grammer and wife Lina of Nashville, TN; four nieces; a nephew; and a host of extended family and friends who loved him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Grammer was preceded in death by a step daughter, Carla Forbes; and a sister, Pat Owen.
