John Gray

John Gray was born January 29, 1949 in Selmer, TN the son of the late J. P. and Willie McCann Gray. He was united in marriage to Joy Goodrum on October 6, 1972. Mr. Gray was retired Manager of Information Systems for General Electric Corporation in Selmer. He departed this life on November 6, 2017 at his home in Selmer at the age of 68 Years, 9 Months, 8 Days.

John received his Bachelor's in Business Administration from Freed-Hardeman University. He was a member of the Selmer Country Club and enjoyed golf, baseball, bowling, gaming, history. reading, and science fiction.

He is survived by his wife Joy (Goodrum) Gray of Selmer, TN; a daughter, Jennifer Beth Gray of Memphis, TN; two sisters, Becky McDowell and husband Eddie, Phyllis Robinson; a brother, Stanley Gray. He is also survived by his in-laws, Betty Stanfield and husband Jerry, Coy Elam and husband Danny, Dennis Goodrum and wife Loretta, Danny Goodrum, Debbie Pratt and husband Kenny, Jackie Tull and husband Chris; Barbara Goodrum, brothers-in-law, T. L. Atkinson, Danny Joe Davis. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gray was preceded in death by three sisters: Fannie Atkinson, Betty Johnson, Sandy Davis; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Robinson, Ross Johnson; his father-in-law, C. E. Goodrum; his mother-in-law, Stella Goodrum; in-laws, Larry Goodrum and Bo Goodrum; a niece, Yvonna Roberts.
