JOHN M. HALL Nashville, TN:
John Martin Hall age 97 passed away at Alive Hospice in Nashville on Saturday, February 25, 2017.
He was born in Bells, TN in Crockett County, the son of the late W. Claude and Lela Eleanor Conner Hall. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1936, Freed-Hardeman College in 1938 and Oklahoma State University in 1941. He married Alice Geraldine “Gerry” Farrar in 1940. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served aboard the D. E. 369 USS Thaddeus Parker in the Pacific until 1946.
He returned to Henderson where he owned and operated Halls Poultry and Hatchery from 1946 to 1966. In 1950 he won the National Chicken of Tomorrow Contest sponsored by the A & P Grocery chain. He also worked for Allied Mills and retired as District Sales Manager 1980.
While in Henderson they were members of the Henderson Church of Christ where he served as an Elder from 1960 to 1987. They moved to Nashville in 1990 and were members of the Harpeth Hills Church of Christ.
He is survived by a son, John Robert Hall and wife Freda of Jackson; two daughters, Carole Hall McDonald of Nashville and Beth Hall Parnell and husband Ron of Springdale, AR; six grandchildren Alissa Hall Brandon (Mike), Anna Hall Neal (Ron), Cara Beth Parnell Sedberry (Clayton), Andrea Hall Manor (Elijah), Heath Parnell (Caitlin), Megan McDonald Kraai (Bryan); and 9 great-grandchildren Zack Brandon, Trey Brandon, Abby Manor, Joshua Neal, Enoch Manor, Ezra Manor, John Luke Neal, Conner Kraai and Thaddaeus Parnell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Gerry Farrar Hall on May 3, 2016, two sisters, Geneva Hall Flinn and Mary Katherine Hall Owens.
