John L. Herod

December 28, 1956 — March 27, 2019

John “Johnny” Lee Herod was born December 28, 1956 in Middleton, TN. He was the son of the late Lawrence Goodman "L.G."Herod and Opaline Weeks Herod.

Johnny went to work early in life and worked at Jaco's Music Store in Jackson, TN as well as AMRO Music Store in Memphis, TN. Mr. Herod was a retired recreational therapist at The Midsouth Hospital in Memphis. He attended First United Methodist Church in Savannah, Tennessee, where he happily played the piano. He especially enjoyed playing the piano/keyboard at various events throughout Memphis and the surrounding areas. Playing for the customers at River Heights Restaurant in Savannah was an honor to him. He took pleasure in visiting and traveling with family and friends and spending time with his beloved dog, Algonquin.

He is survived by a host of extended family which includes his niece, Angela Vincent French; a great niece, Autumn Twinraven French; a brother-in-law, Lewis Vincent; Carolyn Vincent; and a wonderful supportive church family and friends. Throughout John’s life, he had a heart of gold, with a hilarious sense of humor, and he touched many people near and far. He was such a blessing.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Herod was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ora Weeks; three sisters, Joe Ann Flake, Judy Vincent, Jimmie Lou Freeman; and a brother, Billy W. Herod.
