John Davis (J.D.) Anderson was born July 28, 1944 the 9th child of Lucy and Charles Anderson. He was raised in Belvidere, Tennessee. He passed away on June 21, 2014 in Memphis, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy (Duncan) Anderson of Selmer, TN; a daughter, Karla Johnson and husband Scott of Madison, MS; a son, Keith Anderson and wife Lisa of Jackson, TN; 5 grandchildren, Ashton Taylor Johnson, Lauren Elisabeth Anderson, John Ethan Anderson, Scott Andrew Charles Johnson II, and Lydia Katherine Anderson; a brother, Charles Herman Anderson of Owensboro, KY; three sisters, Doris Vivian Bennett of Atlanta, GA, Nancy Louise Braski of Kingston, TN and Katherine Anderson of Belvidere, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, George Parker, Edward, Floyd R., and James Henry Anderson.
Mr. Anderson worked as a mechanical designer for General Electric, starting in Huntsville, AL and later transferring to the Selmer plant, where he spent 36 years. He was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ since 1976 and his love of the Lord showed in so many ways. Having served as a deacon then an elder, he felt his most important role was to be a servant to God and others. He loved his church and from his heart he mowed the church lawn for 36 years. Most people will remember him driving his John Deere tractor whether it was at home, the church, the farm, or for a neighbor. However, some may remember him as a Bama fan who wore crimson and white with great pride, and could "Roll Tide" with the best.
As for his family, he will be remembered as the solid rock loving each and everyone. As Johnny, John D., JD, Dad and Papa, each role was as important to him as the breath he took.
