John Aubrey Jordan

John Aubrey Jordan was born February 26, 1939 in Hardeman County, TN the son of the late William Haddon and Mary Ethel Hooper Jordan.

He was united in marriage to Virginia Carolyn Russom on February 28, 1958. Mrs. Jordan preceded him in death on December 18, 2016, following 58 years of marriage.

John attended school at Rose Creek and graduated from Selmer High School.  He farmed and worked as a Requisition Engineer for General Electric in Selmer, retiring in March of 1999.  John served his State and Nation honorably as a member of the Tennessee National Guard and was an Alderman for the City of Bethel Springs in the 1980's.  Target shooting, riding motorcycles, and fishing were some of his favorite activities; he was also an accomplished woodworker.  John was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where he was always willing to volunteer his talents, including doing the wiring when the building was renovated.  

John departed this life on February 7, 2024 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 84 Years, 11 Months, 22 Days.  He is survived by a son, Ashley Jordan and wife Caren of Frog Jump, TN; two daughters, Audrey (Jordan) Butler and husband Lance of Lexington, KY and Anita Jordan of Bethel Springs, TN; nine grandchildren: Ricky Jordan and wife Carrie, Kimberly Davidson and husband Bob, Jessica Mao and husband Sam, Chelsea Butler and husband Jonathan Vicroy, Zachary Butler and wife Maria, Ethan Wilson and wife Brooklynn, Mary Grace Flanagan and husband Jordan, Anna Maher and husband Peter, and Rachel Jordan; twelve great-grandchildren: Joseph, Alyssa, Brannon, Sophia, Nick, Cristian, Annalyse, Robbie, Abram, Ellis, Everett, and Blakelynn; two sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Russom and Doris Clifton, both of Selmer, TN; an uncle, Charlie Greene of Jackson, TN; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Wayne Jordan; a brother, Jesse R. Jordan; a sister, Betty Hendrix; and a grandson-in-law, Evan Isaac.
