John Wayman LaChance was born February 23, 1923 in Flat River, MO and died April 26, 2011 in Memphis, TN.
He served in World War II from August 1944-August 1945 and in Korea from October 1947-May 1950. In World War II, he served in the 2nd Infantry in General Patton’s army in the battles of Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.
He is survived by five children, Shirley (Ted) Powers of Collierville, Bill (Patty) LaChance of Queen Creek, AZ, Kathy (Sammie) Mullins of Byhalia, MS, Rick (Paula) LaChance of Mesa, AZ and Cindy Copeland of Romeoville, IL; a sister, Ruby Canterbury of Farmington, MO; a brother, Darrell LaChance of Fredericktown, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Scott, Jeff, Dennis (Shirley), Angela, Rebecca, Wesley, Jessica (Bill), Sam, David (Kathy), Melanie (Rick), Steven, Stephanie, Timothy (Cindy); and thirty great-grandchildren, Kathleen, Daniel, Laura, Chloe (Scott), Kelly, Aidan, Trevor, Cian, Ronan (Dennis), Devin (Angela), Richard, Derrick, Roxanna (Rebecca), Irelyn, Presli (Wesley), Braeden, Jacob, Gavin (Jessica), Cole, Hayes (Sam), Michael, Elizabeth (David), Alyssa, Madelyn (Rick), Abigail, Madelyn (Steven), Claudia, Nathan (Stephanie), Jaylyn and Leah (Timothy). He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Denton LaChance; a son, Steven LaChance; and three sisters, Alma Lawrence, Mildred Mullins and Helen Umphleet.
