John Madison Neill was born July 12, 1936, to the late Jim and Roberta Neill of the Burnt Church Community. He attended White's Elementary School through the eighth grade then graduated from Central High School in Savannah class of 1953. He then attended and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Civil Engineering. John worked for TVA and S&W Construction Company in Memphis, Tennessee. In the early 80's, John and Joe McGuagh formed Continental Construction Company in Memphis, Tennessee.
John recently served as president of the Hardin County Democratic Party, member of the Pickwick Shrine Club, 32nd Degree Mason, Hardin County Historical Society, Tennessee Forestry Association, and as past president of the Hardin County Humane Society. He loved all creatures great and small. John was a prolific reader.
He departed this life on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 11 days.
John is survived by his wife, Tammy Gean Neill; son, Brennan Barrier and his wife Lindsey; daughter, Cinnamon Barrier; grandchildren, Chelsea and Paityn Barrier; sisters, Reba Oakley and her husband Trigger and Ann Harrison and her husband Herby; and 6 nieces.
