John Malvin Shields

Mr. Shields passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.



The husband of Darlene Shields, who survives, he worked at Harmon International, was a truck driver, a maintenance technician and mechanic. Mr. Shields was born September 24, 1944 in Middleton to the late Edgar Louis Shields and Vadine Virginia Pipkin Shields and lived most of his life in Hardeman County. He served his country in the US Navy, participating in the Cuban Blockade in the early 1960's and he attended New Union Baptist Church.



In addition to his wife, whom he married May 16, 2005, he is survived by three sons, John and Roy Shields, both of Medon, Christopher Shields of Toone; a daughter, Crystal Shields of Medon; a sister, Shirley Shields Brown of Bolivar; and a brother, Junior Shields of Whiteville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Shields; and a sister, Carolyn Shields Ledford.
