John McKinley Terry

John McKinley Terry was born on August 21, 1927 in Hillsboro, Alabama, the son of the late Arnold and Elizabeth Jeffreys Terry.

On August 2, 1963, he was united in marriage to Terrie Diane Swinney. Mrs. Terry preceded her husband in death on February 27, 2014.

John honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps in the Panama Canal for 4 years. During his early years, he enjoyed bird watching, squirrel hunting, and square dancing. He worked as an engineer for Arrow Transportation. John's family was very important to him and he loved spending time with his wife, son, grandson, and great grandson. Most of all, he loved God.

John McKinley Terry departed this life on February 28, 2023 in Crump, Tennessee at the age of 95 years, 6 months, and 7 days.

He is survived by his son, Kenny Terry of Crump, Tennessee; grandson, Matt Terry of Savannah, Tennessee; great grandson, Hunter Terry; and special friends that he loved, Dale and Nancy Boswell and their children, Hunter, Cody, and Josh.

His family would like to thank the special hospice nurses for their care, including Jessica Reaves, Brooke Wood, Cassie Thompson, and April Leadford. John loved each of you.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Terry was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Goodman and brothers, Lofton Terry, Jeff Terry, Felton Terry, and Buddy Terry.
