Johnnie Ruth McMahan Gilchrist was born October 24, 1932 in Hardeman County, TN the daughter of the late Walter and Jimmie Marie Donahue McMahan.
She was united in marriage to Earl Gilchrist on December 21, 1951. Mrs. Gilchrist was a Homemaker . She was a member of the Mt. Sharon Presbyterian Church in Adamsville, Tennessee. She departed this life on Monday, December 12, 2011 at her home in Stantonville, Tennessee at the age of 79 Years, 1 Month, 18 Days.
Mrs. Gilchrist was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed hosting huge meals for her family. She was known for her "perfectly baked biscuits" and made them every morning for nearly 60 years. She spent time crafting and was a master seamstress. Most of all, she loved spending Saturday's visiting thrift stores for jewelry and shoes to add to her collection.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Earl Gilchrist of Stantonville, TN; three daughters, Kay Moore and husband Randy of Adamsville, TN, Nancy Wade of Adamsville, TN, Molly Skinner and husband Ronnie of Adamsville, TN; three sons, Rickey Gilchrist and wife Amy of Stantonville, TN, Jed Gilchrist and wife Anita of Adamsville, TN, Keith Gilchrist and wife Jeani of Adamsville, TN; a sister, Shirley Oleski and husband Joe of Highlands, TX; a brother, Jimmy McMahan and wife Barbara of Highlands, TX;
nine grandchildren, John Moore and wife Brenda, Jody Gilchrist and wife Brandy, Nicole Gibbs and husband Daniel, Jason Gilchrist and wife Jamie, Brandy Campbell and husband Derek, Katrina Fiddler and husband Robert, Amba Clayton, Ashley Heiring and husband Dale, Nathan Skinner; twelve great grandchildren, River Moore, Kyle Moore, Hunter Brown, Hayden Brown, Hannah Kiser, Austin Campbell, Emma Campbell, Tucker Campbell, Jacob Bowles, Rylan Gilchrist, McKenna Clayton, Blaine Clayton. A host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs Gilchrist was preceded in death by a daughter, Theda Gilchrist; two sisters, Sue King, Anna Grace Trimble; three brothers, Billy McMahan, Bobby McMahan, Jackie McMahan.
