Johnnie Pearl Ray, born on June 7, 1935, in McNairy County, Tennessee, was a beloved daughter of the late Bruce and Belva Simpson Roten.
On June 30, 1951, Johnnie was united in marriage to Dalton Ray. Their life together was filled with love and laughter until his passing on June 4, 1973, leaving her with memories that she carried with her always.
A devoted member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Johnnie's faith was evident in all aspects of her life. Known affectionately as Ms. Johnnie, she was a true people person with a remarkable ability to connect with others. Over the years, she proudly worked at several places including the Brown Shoe Factory, General Electric for 25 wonderful years, Dollar Store, Independent Appeal, and Jack's in Adamsville, where she warmly greeted patrons with her infectious smile and delightful little Rice Krispie treats.
Ms. Johnnie had a zest for life that was evident in her many passions, from traveling and shopping to making unforgettable memories with her family. She never claimed to like cooking but she made a wonderful "strawberry cream cake" that her family loved.
Mrs. Ray departed this life on June 4, 2025, in Adamsville, Tennessee, just days shy of her 90th birthday. She leaves behind a loving family that includes her daughter, Kathleen Rose Littlejohn of Selmer, TN; two sons, Michael Dolton Ray and wife Patricia Ann of Selmer, TN, and John William Ray and wife Brenda of Bethel Springs, TN; her five grandchildren: Roxanne R. Dunaway and husband Justin, Scott Ray, Bj Ray and fiancée Savannah Matlock, Bradford Dolton Ray and wife Valerie, and Patrick Michael Ray; five great-grandchildren: Dalton Ray and fiancée Lily Stricklin, Lillie Pearl Dunaway, Sam Dunaway, Izzy Ray, and Mady Rivers Ray, along with a great-great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Kate Ray. She also cherished her nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her two brothers, Grady Wade and Billie Bruce Roten, as well as a sister, Florence Paige.
As we remember Johnnie Pearl Ray, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit.
