February 15, 2007 Johnny Clyde Berry ended his journey on this earth. It began on May 1, 1904 when he was the 6th child born to Mary Emiline Pigg Berry and John Berry and he was a student at McGlamery school, a farmer, husband, father, grocery store owner, law officer, saw mill owner, auto worker, carpenter, furniture manufacturing supervisor, Christian, Republican, and Great American, and will be missed by many. He was a lifelong member at Scotts Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Cypress Inn, Tennessee. He was a loving and giving dad and had a positive influence on many throughout the years.
Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Shackelford Chapel in Collinwood with Emerald Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in McGlamery Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 17, 2007 in the funeral home from 11:00 am until service time.
Mr. Berry was preceded in death by the mother of his children, his wife Mary Alma Larue Berry, daughter Myrtle and sons Ernest and Arlie. He is survived by his wife Virgie Berry, sons, Johnny Clyde Berry and his wife Betty of Rogersville, Herman Ray Berry of Mokena, IL, Leroy (Sonny) Berry and wife Peggy, daughters Louise Kelly and husband Orbie, Nell Darby and husband Jerry all of Florence. He has 22 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
