Johnny Clayburn Phifer departed this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 29 days. He was born on June 2, 1941 in Camden, Tennessee to the late John Clayburn and Delia Mae Crouch Phifer.
On July 7, 1962 he was united in marriage to M. Louise Dacus.
Johnny worked as a mechanic for Carradine Company and White Motor Company in Memphis, Tennessee and was self-employed. He lived in Hernando, Mississippi until the past nine years during which he lived in Savannah.
Johnny was Baptist in belief and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on automobiles.
He is survived by his wife, M. Louise Phifer of Savannah, Tennessee; a daughter, Patricia McCool of Savannah, Tennessee; two sons, Tim Phifer of Savannah, Tennessee and John Barry Phifer of Hollow Rock, Tennessee; four brothers, Gene Phifer and Hershel Phifer both of Greenfield, Tennessee, Bobby Phifer of Milan, Tennessee, and Kenneth Phifer of Jackson, Tennessee; one sister, Judy Kaye Baker of Milan, Tennessee.
Other than his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by five sisters, Virginia Ann Phifer, Kathy Wilhite, Retha Blackburn Johnson, Dorothy Phifer, and Lucille Phifer; two brothers, Otis Phifer and James Phifer.
There will be a private family service for Mr. Phifer.
