Johnny "Ken" Ross Porter was born on July 17, 1961 in Savannah, Tennessee, the son of the late Gregory L. Chew, Sr. and Frances A. Ross Porter.
Johnny was a member of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. After he graduated high school, he worked at Brown Shoe Company and later became a long time employee at the Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Johnny was known as the comedian of his family and loved to talk and socialize with his friends. Mr. Porter honorably served his country in the United States Army National Guard.
Johnny "Ken" Ross Porter departed this life on November 28, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 63 years, 4 months, and 11 days.
He is survived by his sisters, Jill Williams (Eddie Ray) of Corinth, Mississippi and Jebby Ross-Porter of Savannah, Tennessee; brother, Greg Chew (Kim) of Chicago, Illinois; nephews, Aris Jackson (Haleigh) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Atlas Miller of Savannah, Tennessee; nieces, Aspan Jackson and Kerrigan Hart (Travis), both of Savannah, Tennessee; God daughter, Shelby Lusk of Nashville, Tennessee; and God grandchildren, Jayla Patterson and Jayden Lusk, both of Nashville, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clemon L. Porter; grandparents, Bud (Allene) Ross; uncle, Grady Ross; and aunts, Katherine (Frank) Yarbrough, Mary F. Bailey, and Geneva Flournoy.
