“‘JOHNNY” WATKINS
Horn Lake, MS: Charles Wayne Watkins, age 82, passed away February 10, 2026, at his home.
He was born, January 30, 1944, in Paris, TN, the son of the late Charlie Wayne and Frances Wilson Watkins. He grew up and attended school in Paris. He joined the U.S. Army.
He returned to become a welder and worked for Harvester Industrial in Memphis and Burkeen Manufacturing in Collierville for many years, retiring in 2013.
He enjoyed working on chevy cars, making various types of equipment, using his welding skills. He also liked playing pool, watching westerns, reading, attending the annual Biggest Fish Fry in Paris, TN, golfing and listening to country and western music.
He especially liked taking his great- granddaughter Aubry to the park to feed the ducks.
Mr. Watkins is survived by two daughters, Shelly Matthews (James) of Savannah and Belinda Rogers of Horn Lake, MS; six grandchildren, Kristen Rogers, Ashley Houser, Terrie Watkins Fleming (Hunter), Hunter Watkins, Brandon Ware (Emily) and Bradley Ware; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Walker of Paris and Barbara Winchester of Paris; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Regina Ware, two grandchildren, Cassie White and Aubrey Anna Ware; a brother, Robert Hamilton and three sisters, Peggy Snow, Sue Snow and Margaret Smith.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue.
Burial will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time Sunday.
