JOSEPH LEATHERS
Henderson: Joseph Randolph Leathers, age 77, died October 13, 2009 at Jackson Madison County Hospital.
He was born and reared in Hardeman County the son of the late John Rufis and Susie Tate Leathers. He attended schools in Hardeman County.
He served in the U.S. Army as a demolition expert during the Korean War. He worked as an electrician, having worked at Kilgore at Toone as a maintenance foreman and at Weber in Jackson as a maintenance foreman. He was married to Imogene Ivy Smith of Hickory Corner in 1990. They made their home in Nevada for ten years and then returned to Chester County. Mr. Leathers was a member of the New Union Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Ivy Leathers of Henderson and two sons, Lynn Leathers and Roger Leathers both of Jackson and a step-daughter, Deborah Mercer of Henderson and one grandchild.
