Joseph Elbert Phillips, 64, of Whiteville, died Saturday afternoon, January 6, 2007 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was the son of the late Otis and Bertha Perry Phillips, a native and life-long resident of Whiteville. He married Sharon Burse on January 12, 1980. A retired truck driver, he enjoyed tractor pulls and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters, Melissa Dowdy of Fayette Co., Amanda Ann Jackson of Middleton and Sharon Nicole Kirby of Brownsville; two sons, Joey Phillips of Whiteville and Anthony Glenn Young of Jackson; a brother, Billy Carl Phillips of Whiteville and ten grandchildren, Charles Phillips, Dustin and Briona Kirby, Cody, Hailey, Hope and Marina Jackson, Kaiman, Bruce and Alyssa Young.
