Mr. Powell was born in Royal Oak, Michigan to Thomas Jefferson and Alma Isabel Pierce Powell, July 7, 1944. He was self-employed as a heavy equipment operator, enjoyed drag racing and playing the guitar.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Powell of Florida and Haley Austin of Shelby Township, MI; three sons, Joe Powell, Jr. (Meurica) of Lake Orion, MI, John Powell of Panama City Beach, FL, and Danton Powell of Shelby Township, MI; five grandchildren; and a sister, Susan James (Tom) of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
