Joseph Patrick Ray, 47 of Memphis and formerly of Bolivar, departed this life March 11, 2020 at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis.
Born in Memphis, he lived most of his life in Hardeman County; returning to Shelby County approximately three years ago. He was the son of Linda (Doyle) Kirby Tucker of Hornsby and Paul Michael Ray of San Antonio, TX.
Joseph was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Charles and Dorothy Watson and James Kirby; paternal grandparents, Fred and Joyce Ray.
Mr. Ray was a pipe-fitter and truck driver who had also worked in construction and automotive repair. His family describes him as a "jack-of-all-trades" who was good at whatever he saw fit to do, whether it was gardening, landscaping or cooking.
A man who was proud to be one of God's helpers, Joseph loved his Lord and everyone with whom he came in contact - sharing the message of the gospel and salvation. He attended church at Bellevue Baptist's Frayser campus. His loving spirit manifest itself, even at the end, when he chose to be an organ donor "hero" and pass along part of himself to help others live.
In addition to his parents, he leaves two sons, Patrick Austin Ray of Memphis and Alexander Alden of Collierville; and two brothers, Benjamin Kyle Tucker of Hornsby and Michael Ray of San Antonio, TX.
