JOY MCCOLLUM BINGHAM

Sardis, TN: Joy Lynn McCollum Bingham age 91, peacefully passed through the portal to Paradise just after midnight on April 1, 2026.

She was born March 17, 1935, in Scotts Hill, TN, and was reared in Sardis, TN, the daughter of the late Charlie and Lucy Mae Moore McCollum. She graduated from Sardis High School as Valedictorian of her class. She married Kenneth Dale Bingham on May 9, 1953, and they were married for fifty-two years until his passing in 2005.

She was a great mother, fantastic cook, enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles had a great interest in music.

She worked for the University of Memphis for several years as a clerical assistant, retiring in 1997.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Sardis.

Mrs. Bingham is survived by a son, Keith Bingham (Sharon) of Lakeland, TN; a daughter Becky Ward (James) of Lakeland and Beth McGoldrick (Chris) of Bartlett; six grandchildren, Kevin Bingham (Anna), Carriann Bingham, Lindsey Shaidnagle, Lucas Ward (Julie), Gerrit McGoldrick (Mallory) and Charlie McGoldrick; six great grandchildren, Braiden Shaidnagle, Kalen Bingham, William Bingham, Emersyn Shaidnagle, Evalynn Shaidnagle and Nate Bingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth Dale Bingham (2005), a brother, Cleo McCollum and three sisters, Mae Nell Walker, Iva Hopper and Bertie Diggs.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Crook Avenue Chapel with burial to follow in Lebanon Cemetery in Sardis.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue Chapel on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
