Joy Herriman, 82, of Bolivar, passed from this life on Thursday evening, February 9, 2023 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was born Tuesday, June 4, 1940, in McNairy County, daughter of the late Buford and Alta Howell Grantham, living most of her life in Hardeman County. She was a 1957 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, and started dating Grady Herriman when she was 12 years old. She married him on June 4, 1957, a date that is not only her birthday, but also Grady's. She was best known as "Miss Joy" at the Child Enrichment Center at Bolivar First Baptist Church, where she worked for 20 years. She was a big basketball fan and enjoyed cooking, taking trips to Branson, MO and the mountains, and family gatherings, but received her greatest enjoyment from being around her children and grandchildren, who were her whole world. Mrs. Herriman was a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church.
