JOYCE TUCKER MATHIS
Henderson, TN: Joyce Irene Tucker Mathis age 77, passed away December 6, 2020 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born December 20, 1942 in Parma, MO and grew up in the Hickory Corner Community in Chester County, the daughter of the late Delton and Lottie Irene Patterson Tucker. She graduated from Bethel Springs High School in 1961. She married Charles Mathis in 1962. They made their home in Tennessee, Illinois, California, and Nevada, where Mr. Mathis followed power line construction. After retirement in 1995, they returned to Henderson.
She loved flowers, shopping and her grandchildren. She was an immaculate housekeeper. She enjoyed arts and crafts. She was a member of the Cave Springs Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mathis is survived by her husband, Charles Edward "Charlie" Mathis of Henderson; two sons, Chad Mathis of Henderson and Eric Mathis (Alexsandra) of Brownsville, TX; five grandchildren, Erika Mathis, Kennedy Mathis, McKenna Mathis, Ashley Mathis and Kerilyn Mathis and a great grandchild, Dakota Mathis; two sisters, Peggy Jean Rice of Henderson and Margaret Locke of Bethel Springs and a sister-in-law, Sandra Tucker of Bethel Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Doyle Tucker.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 9th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery.
